Dundee SNP Councillor Jim Barrie has issued a winter warning after it emerged that youngsters have been skating on Clatto Ponds.
Jim Barrie said: “Although the ponds are iced over in some parts, the ice is not thick enough to support a person’s weight and this is deep water.
“It is extremely dangerous. If you fall through the ice, it is almost impossible to get out again without help and you will put other people at risk.”
Strathmartine Ward SNP Councillor Stewart Hunter said: “I’m aware that young people often go into Clatto woods and the whole area around the reservoir is popular with youngsters.
“I would urge local parents to speak to their youngsters if they suspect that they have been doing this or going anywhere near the ice.”
