Shona Robison was the official starter at Michelin Junior Bike 2012 on Sunday as hundreds of youngsters took part in a city centre cordoned off like a race track. But this event was about road safety not racing and every participant got a free crash helmet to emphasise the message of promoting safety on the roads even on short trips.
Sponsored by Michelin as one of a number of events to celebrate the Michelin Dundee factory’s 40th anniversary, the event was attended by Ian Peart, Michelin’s Personnel Manager while Tay FM broadcast live with Gary Robinson acting as MC for the activities.
Speaking as the event got under way in the High Street with a rally for 11 year-olds, Shona said: “We have hundreds of young people here today, learning about road safety and getting active on their bikes.
“This is a marvellous event and well done to Michelin for organising it.”
